<< I'm glad to hear all the good comments about college music majors. >>

Hello, everyone! I solicited some comments from my own daughter, who will
graduate this May from a well-known conservatory with a vocal performance
degree. This is her (non-edited) response to the remarks and questions put
forth originally by Isabelle B.

"At first I thought that statement was kind of hard to dispute, but I think
that going to college or, more specifically, a conservatory, gives you the
opportunity to learn from the professionals themselves rather than just
reading about them. What can be more beneficial than that? Also, being in
school, you're surrounded by brilliant musicians every day who have a lot to
discuss about music, but also want to make lots of good music all the time.
The more good people you surround yourself with, the more you learn about
everything. "

We as parents worry so much about the decisions that our children and we as
families make regarding their educations. The above statement, written by my
own child, makes me feel pretty good about our family decision.

Sincerely,
Lynda Lacy
