Dear co-vocalisters,

An interesting point of view. On the other hand, walking around with a well sitting bakcpack with 20 pounds does not take much energy, except in the mountains. And: overweight people mostly are tired quit fast, and have to sit much more often after a walk etc., so I don't have the feeling they are very fit. Probably the bad consequences for their veins and heart more than compensate (in a negative sense) for the exercises involved in the extra weight they have to carry.
It would be interesting to find singers who have lost weight and continued to sing.
I know three famous examples: Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Pictures from the young DFD show a man that is at least 30 pounds heavier than the DFD as we know him know. I've sent the question about DFD's weight loss to the DFD list and will keep you informed. The stories about Callas and Pavarotti are too complex to attribute eventual detoriations of their voices to weight loss, i.m.o.
It would ne nice to hear more stories from people on the list (about people) who lost or gained considerable amounts of weight, with regards to the vocal consequences.
Best greetings,
Dré (who immediately will start eating cookies, as soon as it's proven that it will make him sing better).
