One wrong woman (or poor woman voice teacher) does not an entire gender make - or even most. I'm sure male teachers have as much capacity to "destroy" (or be wrong about) a voice of the same or opposite sex, as a female teacher does. Same with teachers of piano or another musical instrument. My adult cousin had a piano teacher who told her it was OK for her arms to hurt after every time she practiced - I convinced my cousin to find a teacher who could teach her in a way that didn't hurt - because my cousin thought there was something wrong with her rather than her teacher! Me - I had sense enough to stop playing when it hurt, even before I found a teacher who taught me to play without its hurting.
