Another trick of like ilk is to cover ones ears, and try to make the internally communicating sound sound distant. Thus the sound is going out and forward instead of rattling about in the head - if it sounds momentarily big and boomy it's because the sound has fallen back. This helps to develop a feel not only for high notes, but also for a free open sound (which you can't actually hear while doing this!). john
