keeping your voice 'mezzo' amounts to placing an old, artificial label
peculiar to an isolated art form on the behavior of an 'organism'. surely,
the fact that it hurts to keep trying to put your voice into an old shoe,
must be a warning sign to you. your teacher's insistance would mean the end
of her if it were i but, perhaps you need to discuss it with her(?) openly
before it comes to that (remember, she works for you). don't be afraid to
get the outside opinion of someone who has never heard you before.
