My theory is that operatic staging is a factor, especially for mezzos and
men, who often have to kneel (mezzos when playing men, men when being men)
in the course of their roles.

As for finding a proper way to stand without stressing the knees, I would
advocate some work with an Alexander teacher, or Feldenkrais teacher, or
whatever movement discipline works best for you... The main thing, I
suppose, is to avoid letting the knees lock.

Also, I guess...we get older, just like everyone else. I personally hope
I'll have kids while my knees still work...that's my personal biological
clock! ; )
