I encourage you to hear Donald Miller. His dissertation for his PhD from the University at Groningen, The Netherlands, is entitled simply "Registers In Singing" but it is an excellent examination of the physical and acoustic elements of vocal registers and it is backed up by extensive original research done at the Groningen Voice Research Laboratory under the direction of Professor Harm Schutte. Dr. Miller is one of the founders of the VoceVista computer software for acoustical voice analysis. His work goes back many years to its beginnings at the University of Syracuse, if my memory serves me correctly. -- Lloyd W. Hanson
