Interesting Helen all the beautiful new rooms at the refurbished Sydney Con have their doors labeled 'practice' rooms. Naturally the new recruits sneered scornfully until I pointed out that even by the Oxford dictionary they are now interchangeable. Seems according to the same source that the US usage is confined to "practice." A generic term, no nouns or verbs.
:) my spell checker just wanted to change practice to parties. Good idea!
