I remember reading, in the New York Times, an interview of some noted
film composer (whose name I don't recall) in which he said that
modern film scores owe much (everything?) to Wagner. I'm sure that
that is not quite what he said but it was something along those
lines, and I think he may have traced the lineage of composers as
well. Maybe omebody else has a better recollection of the interview
(or maybe even a copy!).
