Oh, I forgot about leading "captivity captive" metaphorically, it's about loosening the bonds of spiritual slavery - being attached to the world and the bondage of one's sins. Jesus disables Satan's grip on the world and his people by paying for their sins with his death (again, metaphorically or physically).
There's the whole captivity theme that's really big for the Jewish people of Jesus' time, being under the thumb Caesar and all. Since the Jewish people have spent time actually being slaves earlier in their history too, it's a powerful metaphor for being spiritually trapped.
