Dear List,
I'd be interested to know what songs (no arias, please) you consider to be
the most beautiful (in terms of the complete package--melody, text and
accompaniment).
Some of my favorite candidates include
Duparc: Chanson triste, L'invitation au voyage
Brahms: Feldeinsamkeit, Dein blaues auge, Meine liebe ist grun
Schumann: Mondnacht, Widmung
Schubert: Nahe des geliebten, Du bist die ruh, Auf dem wasser zu singen
Strauss: Morgen, Waldseligkeit
Obradors: Del cabello mas sutil
Debussy: Soir
(Hopefully I've spelled them all right!)
