Let me once again recommend the songs of American composer Sidney Homer. His
wife was the great American contralto Louise Homer and so most of his songs
are for lower voice. For starters, I love his setting of Tennyson's "Sweet
and Low." Not difficult, but a beautiful setting of this text. It's
available from Classical Vocal Reprints, I believe.
