I had to sing an audition shortly after starting the pill (1973) and found
that I had very little control over my voice. At the time I did not know
what it was. I then did another audition just after I had come OFF the
pill. Same thing!
Some time later I was casually chatting to a fellow soprano, who told me
that she had lost 3 semitones while on the pill and that her doctor had
told her that the vocal cords swell, because the body is put into mock
pregnancy. So there you have it. While I was really pregnant, I never sang
better, I even sang Carmina Burana (top D) which I have not done since.
I'm sure the dosage in today's pills is more carefully monitored. That was
just my personal experience many years ago.I'm sure we all react
differently to different medication.
Good Luck
