Having never heard Charlotte Church until last night, I really could not
comment on any of the threads about her that have crossed my path since
joining Vocalist - although I certainly read all the posts with interest

Now I HAVE heard her. I don't think she sounds particularly that
mature... I think I sounded like that when I was 15 or 16, and I had never
had any formal training back then, neither am I saying that I am deserving
of the attention she is receiving. It's a pleasant voice, but not entirely
"different" or "special" in quality to my ears. She sings well; she
interprets well for a 13 year old... obviously she's done some homework as
the diction seems well enough, and the notes/rhythms are correct. For this,
I would applaud her - many 13 year olds would not have the discipline to
accomplish this. (I'm sure she gets lots of help though).

As for some of choices of rep - The Jewel Song is not for 13 year olds
to sing. Most of her other stuff is quite nice, and not opera related,
although she is marketed as an "opera" star.
