Dear Dr. Messmer,
Thanks so much for sharing your knowlege with us. It was heartening to hear that modern OBs consider a 30+% C-section rate too high. Your point was well taken that this was getting to be an off-topic subject, but I'm glad you decided to bring your expertise to the table after all. (I still maintain that a C-section could affect the support muscles :-)
I don't think we disagree on any of this stuff... we just have a different perspective... we both know the majority of doctors are caring, competent people. From your public health perspective, that is good. My 'client' perspective has to look at that with relief, but also caution... No one wants to be treated by the occasional "lemon". We also agree that the fear of malpractice suits can affect the C section rate. It leaves MDs in the clear, but the client still has to be wary of the outside dynamics which may be trying to force the doctor's hand. As you said people need to make sure they have an MD they can literally trust with their lives.
Again, thanks! Just signed onto vocalist-backstage, so I won't be bothering anyone with this topic anymore :-)
