Hi there, Just a married surname, not an original surname, I assure you.
I want to roll an r so bad!!! It's driving me nuts! Maybe one of these days those exercises will result in my tongue tripping over itself. It's come close a few times with "pot-o-tea" over and over as fast as I can, but it never quite gets to the point where it's actually rolling. Arghhh...

Trilling an r ? It can be thrilling ! Well, if you're willing to do it but unfortunately can't, don't rant ! Here's a glimpse of hope if you're speaking with a standard north-american pronunciation : since the intervocalic "t" or "tt" in "pity", "city", "better", "letter", "latter", "gotta", "oughta", etc, is usually articulated in the States with a retroflex tongue, it is both phonologically and acoustically very similar to a standard spanish "single coiled" rolled r. Which makes me think, by the way, how strange Laura Ruiz can't roll her r's, despite her hispanic surname (and thus probable origin) ! But to one extent this ruins the genetic argument.
