You have to register on yahoogroups if you want to use the web site. In addition to needing to do this because of backup moderator duties, I've found it a handy way to change my mail status (digest vs. messages). Also, one can opt to read and write group messages on the web site to avoid personal mailbox clutter if one is so inclined. You set up a user id that's different from your regular e-mail address (mine is peggyliebman), but I don't know if that's the case if you have a yahoo.com e-mail address.
