Whoa - that's brutal! Ask a belter if they start with emotion - I doubt it. I had an adjudicator treat me similarly one time in the music festival. We had been working on my head tones and my teacher was very encouraged with my singing. I did my beautiful folk song and during adjudication, the adjudicator all buy had me in front of a firing squad about my high singing. My teacher was shocked. With each new category, she berated by head tones until they became just what she was descibing - tight and forced. She even used the word "pathetic" in front of everyone. Then, in the sacred solo, when I sang a song that had a high G in which I cut off the note early and didn't have much of a ring in it, I won the class. Go figure. Jacqueline
