Your best bet would be to contact the Dean of admissions to the music program at U of Toronto, and to set up a meeting with her/him. During this music, you should have a frank, open discussion in which the Dean tells you honestly about the expectations of the university when it comes to applicants, and during which you (1) acquaint the Dean with something of your background, to see if it "satisfies" their criteria for admissions; (2) get all your own questions answered.
What you should not do is rely on the experience of other students. Every student is different, and the process of getting into school - particularly after a long hiatus away - can be somewhat mystifying. Best to get the answers from the person most qualified to give them, particularly as that person has absolutely no agenda other than to encourage qualified students to apply for U. of Toronto's program rather than that of some other university. Believe it or not, even the most competitive music schools are in the business of RECRUITING not DISCOURAGING - it's just a matter of determining exactly the type of student they are looking to recruit.
