Subject:  So close yet so far... :(

Hey guys and gals:
Oh well...They let the cat out of the bag so I guess I can now too. To be
so damn close but so damn far! Oh man. Atlantic Recording Artists Savatage
got 2000 audition tapes for the vacant vocalist position and narrowed it
down to 3 candidates. Well yours truly was 1 of the 3! I met the vocalist
who got the job, Damond, at the auditions in NYC at S.I.R. Studios and had a
strong feeling that he was going to get the gig after he told me that Jon
Oliva, the founder and leader of the band himself, brought him up to
audition. Well I went in and sang with The Mountain King and Chris Caffery.
I tell ya, it was the experience of a lifetime and I suppose that that
should be my consolation. But to come so close and not get it...It's almost
worse than being eliminated in round 1. I guess it's a good story for the
grandkids. Oh shit, maybe I need to find a girlfriend first before I worry
about grandkids. LOL! Anywho, Paul had some great things to say about my
voice and that was fantastic since he has worked with Ray Gillen (R.I.P.)
for God's sakes! Oh well, I ranted long enough. Congrats to Damon on getting
the spot and thanks to Paul and Jon for giving me a shot at glory!

Yours In Music,
Denis J. Lanza
