Subject:  Pieta Signore

Greetings, everyone!

I'm preparing Stradella's "Pieta Signore!" for a recital in June -- first of all, does anyone have a translation of the Italian text? I'm using the Schirmer edition, which has an English version of the song but no translation of the Italian (and my little dictionary ain't cutting it!).

Secondly, I'm having difficulty coming up with my interpretation of the song for my recital, e.g. how "dramatic" should I be in terms of facial expressions/gestures, how to differentiate the A section from the C section, etc. This is the first time I've done a "religious" piece in recital, and I wonder if anyone who has performed it has any insights on interpretation.

Any help would be (as ALWAYS!!! :-) greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Rachel
