Subject:  Re: boys changing voices

Hi:
I have a question for the learned
pedagogues on the list (especially
those who work with kids).
I have been given conflicting advice
regarding boys with changing voices.
One colleague told me that they should
not, under any circumstances, sing at
all until the voice has completely changed
which is what I have always believed
from my reading and studies.
Another, however, tells me of a boy
whose voice changed so slightly and
slowly without the usual cracking etc.
that he maintained his lessons almost
completely through this period and is
now a lovely tenor.
What are your thoughts on this controversial
subject?

(who has a boy student who will soon be
at a voice change stage...he's 14 and still
a treble singer).
