I used to record all my lessons then I started to wonder whether it
inhibited my teacher at all, so I discontinued. I now record chosen
sections. So I can understand the thinking of the student who stopped
the recording while you were speaking.
Oh the problems of the human interface!
My teacher often extends my 30 minute lesson considerably.
She says she loves teaching me because I'm so responsive. I think
anything that forms a barrier for the two way interaction is not good.
My only other experience of a teacher was a man who delighted
in praising himself and yet totally lacked direction. I frittered away
my vocal future with him and have nothing to thank him for.
In retrospect I'm sure he'd not have approved of
continuous recording.
Reg.
