I agree! >I can't imagine many people, men or >women who would be content to have their jobs and freedoms taken away from >them, forced to wear a uniform, confined to quarters, beaten at the >suggestion of noncompliance - where I live we call that "jail".
You should live in a Third World country, my dear!!! You can't imagine what misery, lack of perspectives and twisted religious conceptions can do to one's self-esteem. I myself, as a middle class Brazilian, have two contradicting reactions: I either fulminate the person with disaproving eyes ( meaning to say: Stand up for your rights, you a......!) , or feel terrible for a long time thinking how could that be avoided! >It >doesn't seem as though this has really been abused either here or on >Vocalist. I agree with you again! Not a long ago there was a campaign here for the Rainforest, which I complained about, but it was not as a principle, but regarding that very specific campaign. Maybe ( it just occurred to me ), the person should send e-mails only to those on the list he/she has had previous private contact only. Those would send them over to their previously privately contacted co-listers and so on. But I still think there are causes that deserve to be heralded, for our own benefit.
