i don't think ragtime (Scott Joplin, anyway) requires the kind of dexterity
that would improve your typing speed. the challenge with ragtime, in my
opinion, is the stride in the left hand (jumps from bass notes to fill in
chords) and (sometimes) filled in octaves that move pretty fast in the right,
as in The Entertainer.
