Dear Vocalisters:

I do apologize for having asked the question about Eileen Farrell and
Leonard Bernstein. Those who know the story will understand that I cannot
repeat it on the e-mails. And, as with many such stories, it is perhaps
more fiction than fact. I only mentioned it because it gave voice to a
very strong personality possessed by Ms. Farrell and, when pressed, a
willingness to use it.
