This statement reminded me of something. The last time I went to Vandy for a checkup I spoke very briefly with Tom Cleveland (in the hallway) about this raising larynx thing and he said something about it being normal for my voice type in the upper part of my range. He was in a hurry and I didn't get to really discuss this with him, and the doctor I talked to said that the raised larynx wasn't dangerous, but could of course affect my sound/style.
Is it normal for the high soprano/tenor larynx to raise in the upper register? I have a very small larynx, in fact, I am a very small person. Could this have anything to do with it?
Actually, I think it all boils down to throat tension, which I am now listening to affirmations to try to lessen. People who think singing is easy ( like my husband) really get my goat these days, but like Dr. Diane said, nobody is going to give you anything on a platter so you'd best get to work!
