There is an article in the most recent NATS Journal of Singing about using
a straw as a tool for phonation. Very interesting! I have been using straws
with my voice students and my choral groups with some excellent results. It
seems the straw "requires" you to support and phonate properly. And you don't
have to steal straws from the local eateries -- you can buy a box at your
favorite grocery store. :)
