i think there are some classical singer who use more of their
'speaking' voice up higher than others and i think it is not neccesarily
connected to fach. giulietta simionato, a fairly powerful mezzo carried
head voice down very low and did that 'yodel thing' on the lowest notes.
marni nixon and dawn upshaw and perhaps, von stade as well, sing more with
their speaking voices in the lower range and tend to start mixing around G4.
teresa stratas and julia migenes vary what they do depending on what they
are singing. david daniels always sings in falsetto. and i think that the
sound he makes is exactly the same sound as female opera singers make, that
is often called head voice, and therefore, must be made the same way.
