David suggested that NATS host the Vocalist. Conceptually it would be a good fit, and something I'd personally be happy to help propose, but while NATS could host the webspages and perhaps even the archives formerly housed at vocalist.org, the fact is we are not set up for a Majordomo listserve. The webhost for nats.org charges an additional monthly fee for Majordomo use, plus fees for the level of bandwidth such a list incurs.
As several people on this list have mentioned (and I as a loooong-term reader of the Vocalist agree with) the problem isn't so much with egroups as it is missing the influx of new people and ideas that came from the website at vocalist.org. An alternative plan would be to have Marko set up a redirect from a single page at vocalist.org, that would automatically send visitors to a webpage or pages where they could find out how to subscribe to this (egroups) list, along with netiquette and other pertinent information, and perhaps have access to the vocalist.org archives as well.
I have no idea what Marko's current plans are, but if he's willing to consider the alternative plan above, I'm willing to see what we can concretely offer through nats.org.
