Hi: I know that the less expressive faces of some judges can be unnerving. My students have experienced this when doing Royal Conservatory exams. The examiners must write comments, assign marks and offer suggestions all while the exam is in progress so Diane's comment is right on the money...they are concentrating. Oddly enough, we also take students to CNDA competitions and musical theatre class is one of the categories. The judges are giving mini tape recorders with tiny mics which they hold right at their lips and record their adjudications while you are performing. This way they can watch and enjoy while they talk. Believe me...they laugh, react and show on their faces if they are enjoying the performance. The students really enjoy performing in this competition (unfortunately it's Canadian only).
