Sorry - I've never seen the original, only a performance by 2 mezzos in a special or some such. But the song would still work for 2 sopranos, if it doesn't break all the windows... :-)

You're correct - it was specifically for an alto belter (Ethel Merman) and a legit baritone (Ray Middleton). A far cry from a duet for two sopranos, which is what was originally requested.
