This is a tricky question to ask this list, but I'll put it. As my web site will show, I specialise in the church and operatic castrati; and my good friend Andreas Kopp has provided much information about the current crop of male sopranos, but I need to ask this question: has any of them had any kind of surgery, hormonal defect (I know about some of these already) or anything else which would have caused them to able to sing in the higher registers ? My friend, Peter Giles, is an authority on the various types of countertenor voice, so I am well-informed in that field, too. However, If anyone on this list knows anything else (other than the sources already mentioned) about these singers, and/or whether they themselves could contact me directly by e-mail, I would be very grateful. Naturally, all material would be confidential, unless the contributors desired otherwise. I am afraid I cannot come and look for all this information, as I am virtually housebound. Thank you very much.
