Wow, Birgit Nilsson. She is the one person who made me love the sound of the
human voice. I heard her at the Met in 1963 or thereabouts. I do not
remember what opera, but with an aria in the third act, she brought the
audience to its feet...the applause went on and on. I tell you, Listers, I
had tears in my eyes. I never forgot that glorious sound. That's why at age
60 I am still taking voice lessons, as I have done sporadically since that
event. She was more than terrific!
