Mike, perhaps the use of the word "language" in the context that Linda uses it
has a
somewhat different meaning than you're ascribing to it - as shorter way of
saying,
"non-verbal communication using body movement". Do you define language as
purely "verbal
communication"? If so, how does sign language fit in to your definition of
"language"?

Plus, if all us American English speakers understand the meaning of the
American idiomatic
phrase, "body language", can one person void an entire nation's use and
understanding of
it? If you were to invent a different and better term for the intended meaning
that meets
your concerns, and you were able to convince every American English speaker to
use it, I
think you'd win a Nobel prize or something!
