i guess what i was looking for in the original question was some
anecdotal, if you will, demonstration of specific connections of certain
scientific information as it has been used in the studio. for example:
knowing the crico thyroid muscles contract to increase pitch, one can place a
finger on the thyroid cartilage and, making high and low sounds, notice the
thyroid's tilting. one can go on further to demonstrate that tilting in a
lifted larynx and a lowered larynx. if the examples are being taped on even
a cheap tape recorder, the relative timbres can be verified and catalogued
according to the action that produced these sounds.

i would like to hear of the details of instances where this kind of
connection is made in regard specifically to spectral readings. is it
possible to see a spectral reading as one is singing? that would impress me.
