I induce an adrenalin surge on purpose about 30 minutes prior so I have just
enough time to work through it. That way when I go on stage I'm energized
but not shaking. How do I do this? I imagine that it's showtime, and I pace,
and talk to myself (not necessarily out loud :o)... everybody thinks I'm
nuts, but I don't care since the end result is I look relaxed and composed
on stage, and my singing isn't negatively affected by nerves. Of course,
this doesn't work in situations where I'm forced to sit quietly in the room
while waiting for my turn :o(.

Jennifer, counting the hours until her first competition and repeating many
positive affirmations

"I am a good singer" "I have a beautiful voice" "I like the way I sound" "I
interpret music expressively" "People enjoy hearing me sing" "I am calm and
relaxed" (lol at the last one, maybe by tomorrow I will have convinced
myself :o)
