Subject:  student's ear pops while singing

I am an experienced teacher (right now I have about 50 students), and
I have been teaching voice full-time at the college level for about 6
or 7 years. I now have a student (she is 19, a soprano freshman
voice major) who says that her ears pop when she sings, and that it
only happens when she is in head voice. This makes her wary of the
high notes (understandable...) Have any of you experienced or heard
of this particular problem? By the way, she does not have TMJ (that
she knows of), and says that it feels like a pressure change in her
ears, similar to being on a plane.

This complaint is a new one for me:)

Thanks for any suggestions on how to address this problem, or any
ideas as to what might be causing it.
