This is fascinating! When you speak, is it the "full chest" register or is it the "mix"? I get the sense that most women speak in this mix register, though I have heard women speak in what sounds to me like "full chest". >>
I have always spoken in a mix. And, when I noticed that I was beginning to become hoarse after three or so hours of teaching, I began to make an effort to lighten that mix when speaking, as well as support speech as well as I support singing, which has really helped my vocal stamina.
