Not necessarily, it again depends upon the voice type. I would suggest that a Tenore Leggiere (sp?) would mature sooner than a dramatic soprano. In fact, I think that 33 - 35 is probably pushing it a bit for genuine dramatic voices. They may be maturing by then, but will not have had the chance to build up as much audition and performance experience as the lighter lyric voices that may have matured ten years earlier. I would agree with Karen that there should not be a difference between the genders in age limits, but I agree more strongly that there should not be age limits. I believe that Anthony Rolfe-Johnson did not start studying voice properly until he was 29. If there had been such an age limit on art song recitalists then he may never have had a career!
