I have an EMI Classics recording of the Theatre National de l'Opera-Comique,
with Solange
Michel as Carmen, conducted by Andre Cluytens. This is a 1951 Mono (non-stereo)
recording. While the vocalism isn't the most beautiful I've heard, the French
diction and
style are impeccable.
