I can't really think of an athlete who can sing or play an instrument, but I know the opposite: athletic singers. There are so many in pop music that I think it's not necessary to cite any at all. And I know there's a famous Russian baritone who's really athletic, but I can't remember his name.
Concerning the boys' athletic abilities, I have the feeling it has more to do with their sexuality. Choir boys and ballet dancers in most Western countries are not considered an example of masculinity I guess, although no one can deny most ballet dancers have a great masculine body.
