Whenever I begin learning a new piece, especially in this repertoire, I
listen to many many recordings of different sopranos singing it. For
example, when I started on "O luce di quest'anima" I listened to Sills,
Sutherland, Moffo, dal Monte, Sayao, Pons, Sciutti, Callas and Devia to name
a few. I found what I personally liked and didn't like, then experimented
with all different ornamentions, including some from the Liebling book, to
find what fit my voice best. Pick and chose. Something from one version may
go well with something from another.
