Dear Vocalisters,
I've decided, after many years at the job, to wind down my teaching practice. It has finally occurred to me (a very slow learner!) that my preferred learning style simply does not fit very well with the amazingly rich and colossally confusing discipline (?) that is the study of the human voice. I have realised that there are some things I do very well, and other things I do not do well at all, and that I don't have enough inspiration to rectify the poor areas.
How do I feel? Very relieved! Irony? I'm now teaching a lot better than I was a week ago!
I have been a member of this list for a while, and have greatly appreciated the knowledge and commitment of all the contributors, and the interest and enthusiasm of all seeking answers.
Special appreciation for their insights, in no particular order, and with no doubt, some horrendous omissions, to Dre, Lloyd, Isabelle, Tako, Alain, John (Baritono Lyrico and Robusto - I love that!), Dianne and Christine.
I shall probably lurk for a while just for interest and entertainment.
Good luck to you all, and lots of good wishes for the future.
Cheers
David -- David Cox South Australia
