"Legit" is a type of musical theater singing, if I
recall correctly. Legin broadway singing is the type
found in Camelot, Carousel, Sound of Music, etc. -- a
more classical sound. Modern broadway singing has a
very different sound -- less vibrato, fewer operatic
overtones in the voice, a sound that's "clearer" or
not as rich, usually substituting belting for
classical singing.

A legit soprano song is "Moonfall" from The Mystery of
Edwin Drood. A non-legit soprano song is "On My Own"
or some other belt song.

Musical theater auditions will often list roles as
"legit" or "belt" in their audition notices. Lloyd
wasn't making a value statement; it's an accepted way
of "faching" broadway voice types.
