I'm afraid I may not be of much help to you,but I would like to describe
to you my problem. My coach noticed that when singing I tend to push air
the wrong way that is into the belly rather than straight up into my
lungs, larynx, and mouth. What's funny, when breathing in a relaxed way
I did just the opposite. When I changed the direction of breathing when
singing, that is followed the way I breathe when,eg.falling asleep my
voice grew clearer and brighter, also much stronger. Another funny thing
is that when touching my larynx I can feel as if it was wider and even
thicker on the left side. Perhaps in your case it also a matter of
breathing into your belly rather the other way round. Sorry I can't be
more helpful

Subject: [vocalist] Asymmetry in the Larynx

If anyone could help me with the following it would be greatly
appreciated. My vocal coach has noticed a problem with my voice. My
tone is not as clear as it should be and it is almost as if there are
two different voices singing. I have never noticed nor has it been
mentioned to be before I started with this teacher, but now that I
listen for it, it is very very apparent. I just went to an ENT who
wasn't very interested in helping, but he said that my larynx was
asymmetrical and that could be the cause of the problem. He also said
if that is the problem then there was no treatment. If anyone has
heard of anything similar, I would appreciate any information as it
is very discouraging.
Thanks very much.
