Dear Mark Crayton & Listers:
Certainly, I don't in ANY way, shape or form wish to contribute to the battles
Counter-Tenors are faced with! These singers are blessed with beautiful voices
and my prayer for them is that their lives and careers may be as blessed as we,
their adoring listeners indeed are! My personal contact with a Counter-Tenor
was in the early '80's in the backward, redneck Southeastern USA. Poor guy had
a rough time. I live here. My entire family lives here. Do folks in the
South give Counter-Tenors a hard time? Unfortunately, but we've got a
reputation for spreading ill-treatment far beyond these singers! After all, we
have Cracker Barrel Restaurants, Denny's, Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, etc,
etc.
My daily prayer is "Dear God, Please send a few more contraltos, but LOVE those
Counter-Tenors among us!" These are indeed lovely voices and, IMO David
Daniels is truly ON A PEDESTAL, a glorious singer, a wonderful musician and,
from all reports I've heard, a truly wonderful person!
