Dear Lloyd and Listers:
I certainly didn't think my comments were a bit contradictory. To a
Counter-Tenor, the tone the singer produces is considered by the singer to be
"full voice". Many singers still hold the old view that this fach is somewhat
iffy. We know better! I feel that with recent interest in this classification
we are a bit more aware of the fact that this is a legitimate fach and not
singers who exploit their falsettos ad infinitum.
I certainly bow to Tako Oda on this since, being a Counter-Tenor himself, he
seems to be the most knowledgable on this subject among the members of the
vocalist. We now know how to go onto the list webpage and search out posts on
this topic. Tako pointed out to me at one point that there is another list on
Yahoo! dedicated strictly to Counter-Tenors.
On the subject on David Daniels, I've been told that the Handel opera in which
he is singing in currently in Chicago, I believe, is quite successful! I'll be
ready to purchase his next cd whenever it comes out!
