Subject:  Re:vibrato question

A distinction must be made between vibrato, which is pleasing to the ear and
not harmful to the voice, and a warble, which is an ugly created by singers
who have developed, if you will, "unhealthy vibrato." A warble will sometimes
make a singer's jaw go up and down; vibrato will not. A warble is the classic
"bad opera singer" sound; vibrato is heard by singers of nearly every style
of music. A warble is wide; vibrato is not.

I'd also like to mention that using Lehmann's book on singing as a guide
should be done with caution. Lehmann had her own vocal woes, and her opinions
are colored by her time.
