"Is there some kind of a voice techniques group class offered thru a university
or community college that could help you out? That might be a frugal
alternative."

Christine,

I agree 100%! In the NATS Code of Ethics it is clearly stated that voice
teachers cannot advertise scholarships. Many teachers, including myself, offer
them in certain circumstances. The voice class offers an hour of instruction at
less than half the cost and I know teachers who are teaching up to 25 students
in a class that way. This is worth checking out. If you have an excellent
voice some voice teachers are also church choir directors and they'll "trade"
lessons for sectional singing in their church choir. This is also a
possibility!
